Shubman Gill matched a reported Indian record for ODI Player of the Series awards after India won its three-match series against the West Indies 2-1. Yahoo Sports reported that Gill now has seven awards, the same tally as MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Sourav Ganguly.

Gill made 110 in the opening match and an unbeaten 233 in the second. India lost the third ODI by five wickets, but held on to the series win.

The report says all seven of Gill’s awards have come since 2022, more than any other Indian player in that period. It lists Virat Kohli on 11 awards and Sachin Tendulkar on 15.

West Indies chased down 352 in the final match, their highest successful ODI chase, according to the supplied historical context. Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 162 as the visitors reached 352 for five.
