Georgia Tech baseball season concludes with regional exit to Oklahoma
The No. 2 seed falls 8-7 to Oklahoma, ending hopes of a Super Regional berth despite a record-breaking regular season under first-year coach James Ramsey.

Georgia Tech’s baseball programme has concluded its 2026 campaign following an 8-7 extra-innings defeat to Oklahoma in the NCAA regionals. The match, held on Monday evening at Russ Chandler Stadium, saw the No. 2 overall seed eliminated from the tournament after a walk-off home run secured the victory for the Sooners. Oklahoma advances to the Super Regional to face Kansas.
The loss marks the end of a statistically significant period for the Yellow Jackets. Under first-year head coach James Ramsey, the team achieved a 48-9 regular season record, representing an 84.2 per cent win rate and the highest in the institution’s history. The squad also secured the ACC regular season title and won the ACC tournament for the first time since 2014.
Ramsey addressed the media post-match, acknowledging the difficulty of the elimination for the senior players concluding their final game in a Yellow Jackets uniform. He stated that the team is processing the loss together and took personal accountability for the result. Ramsey described the season as incredible and expressed gratitude for the players' contributions to the programme, noting that while the outcome was heartbreaking, the group deserves recognition for their efforts.
The defeat prevents Georgia Tech from advancing to the next stage of the national championship path. The institution’s performance in the regular season and conference play had positioned it as a strong contender, but the extra-innings loss in Atlanta ends its bid for a deeper tournament run.
Oklahoma’s victory in the Atlanta Regional sets up a Super Regional matchup against Kansas. The result brings a close to a season that had drawn significant attention due to the programme’s historic statistical achievements and conference successes under Ramsey’s leadership.
