The University of Georgia Bulldogs have officially added five-star prospect Jaxon Dollar to their 2027 recruiting class. The commitment was announced live on the CBS Sports YouTube channel and CBS Sports HQ, marking a significant development for the program's future roster construction. By selecting Georgia, Dollar has joined running back Kamon Spell and cornerback Donte Wright as the third five-star recruit to pledge allegiance to the Bulldogs for the upcoming cycle.
According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-5, 222-pound prospect from North Carolina ranks as the No. 2 tight end and No. 32 overall player in the country. His decision comes after evaluating offers from a slate of finalists that included Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, and Texas. While Dollar visited each of these institutions on unofficial visits during the spring, the Bulldogs were ultimately able to separate themselves from the competition.
Scouts and analysts have described Dollar as a versatile "Swiss Army Knife" playmaker capable of operating in the slot, the backfield, or along the line of scrimmage. 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins noted that while Dollar is listed at 6-foot-5, his actual height may be closer to 6-foot-2. However, Ivins emphasised that this distinction is negligible given the prospect's elite coordination and large catch radius, which allow him to function as a featured individual in any passing attack.
This commitment places Georgia on a trajectory to sign a top 100 recruit at the tight end position every year since 2020, assuming Dollar remains a top 100 recruit through the signing period. The addition of Dollar significantly elevates the Bulldogs' recruiting profile, as the program's 2027 class was ranked 20th nationally prior to this announcement. The school has a strong recent history of producing elite tight ends, and Dollar fits directly into that lineage.
Dollar's athletic background extends beyond football, where he was a high school basketball player who received an offer from Illinois-Chicago as a sophomore. He prioritised football over basketball, though his basketball skills are evident on the gridiron. As a junior, he recorded 20 touchdowns and 1,190 yards on 54 catches, demonstrating the burst after the catch and traffic navigation typical of a guard.
The commitment underscores the Bulldogs' continued success in attracting elite talent at the tight end position. With a roster of five-star prospects now including Spell, Wright, and Dollar, Georgia aims to maintain its competitive edge in college football recruitment.
