Geoff Schwartz backs Cowboys to cover against Giants in NFL Week 1

Fox Sports analyst Geoff Schwartz has recommended backing the Dallas Cowboys to cover against the New York Giants on the road in 2026 NFL Week 1. The supplied material indicates the wager concerns a three-point line.
Schwartz argues that Dallas is more than three points better than New York, despite playing at MetLife Stadium. He points to the Cowboys’ offensive strength and recalls that they scored 37 points against much of the same Giants defence in Week 2 of the previous season.
Dallas has also reported injury concerns, with All-Pro left guard Tyler Smith placed on injured reserve. Schwartz nevertheless expects the Cowboys’ offence to perform strongly against a Giants defensive line he describes as difficult.
The analyst also identifies defensive improvement as central to Dallas’ prospects. The Cowboys have added several defensive players since the start of last season, including defensive tackles Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams, pass rushers Rashan Gary and Von Miller, and secondary players Jalen Thompson, Cobie Durant and Caleb Downs.
Schwartz separately favours overs in the Chicago-Carolina matchup, arguing that Chicago’s offence should improve while its defence remains vulnerable. His assessment is not supported by the separate SportsLine projection, which describes Cowboys-Giants as a close game and gives New York a 47 per cent simulation win rate.
The recommendation remains an analyst’s betting opinion rather than a confirmed result. Fox Sports also discloses that it may receive compensation from legal sports betting partners, while player statuses, rosters and projections may change before Week 1.
