An Israeli air strike on a vehicle in Gaza City’s Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood killed at least two Palestinians and wounded 13 others on Sunday, according to medics.
Health officials said the bodies had been dismembered and appealed for information to help identify those killed. Footage verified by Al Jazeera showed a mangled and gutted vehicle, with its roof and doors torn away.
The Israeli military said the strike targeted two Hamas fighters. That claim, and the identities of those killed, had not been independently verified.
The attack occurred during a reported US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The strike is the latest in a series of near-daily attacks reported since the truce began, while Hamas has accused Israel of violating the arrangement.
Gaza health authorities say more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began. Local authorities say at least 73,669 people have been killed in Israel’s war in Gaza since October 2023.
