Players greeted by supporters outside their hotel as France prepares for Group C fixture in New Jersey

France’s national football team has arrived in Boston, United States, for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to France 24. Upon landing, players were greeted by fans outside their hotel, marking the squad's physical entry into the host nation ahead of the tournament's group stage matches.
The French side is scheduled to play its opening fixture against Senegal on 16 June in New Jersey. This match serves as the first of three Group C games for the European champions as they begin their campaign in the expanded tournament.
The 2026 World Cup is being hosted across Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The tournament officially commenced on 11 June 2026 in Mexico City, with the United States Men’s National Team set to begin their own campaign on 12 June against Paraguay in Inglewood.
While the French team focuses on their upcoming matches, the broader tournament context in the United States has included reports of heightened anxiety among immigrant communities regarding potential enforcement actions by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ahead of World Cup fixtures.
France’s arrival in Boston precedes a period of significant domestic political activity, with French lawmakers currently debating new child protection and anti-violence legislation in schools following the Bétharram abuse scandal.
