Four killed in Green Hill shooting as police step up response
Police say the motive remains unknown and no arrests had been made by Saturday, as authorities increase patrols, searches and intelligence sharing.
Four people were killed and four wounded in a shooting in Green Hill, near Kingstown, on Friday night, according to Al Jazeera’s report of police statements. Two of the wounded were treated and discharged; two remained in hospital on Saturday.
Police said they had made no arrests and had not established a motive. Acting Police Commissioner Trevor Bailey described the killings in the context of gang violence and retaliatory attacks between groups.
Authorities said they were increasing patrols and searches and sharing intelligence among police units. Bailey also urged young people to avoid criminal groups and violence.
Police have recorded 37 homicides in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines so far this year, according to the supplied report.
