Former Ravens coordinator Wink Martindale returns to minicamp amid defensive transition

Wink Martindale, the former defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, visited the team’s mandatory minicamp practice on Tuesday, marking a significant return to the franchise he helped define. During the visit, current defensive coordinator Jesse Minter publicly characterised Martindale as both a mentor and a Ravens legend, underscoring the enduring influence of the previous regime on the current staff.

Martindale, who served as the team’s defensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021, also held discussions with owner Steve Bisciotti and executive vice-president Ozzie Newsome while on site. His tenure in Baltimore is remembered for implementing aggressive pressure packages and a defensive identity that aligned with the organisation’s historical standards, following in the footsteps of figures such as Marvin Lewis, Rex Ryan, Chuck Pagano, and Dean Pees.
