Former Brewer Randy Wolf claims inaugural MVP honours at Alumni Legends Game
Wolf, who played for Milwaukee in 2011, replicates Prince Fielder’s celebration and receives large trophy ahead of European trip
Former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Randy Wolf has been named the inaugural Most Valuable Player of the Brewers Alumni Legends game, following a dual performance that saw him hit a game-winning two-run home run and pitch scoreless innings for Team Wisco. The event, held at American Family Field, concluded with Wolf receiving a gold medal and a three-tier trophy nearly as tall as he is.
Wolf, who appeared for the Brewers in 2011 and won a playoff game as a starting pitcher that year, secured the victory through his bat rather than his arm. The home run marked his fifth career hit of that type and his first while wearing a Brewers uniform. It also echoed a previous appearance at the venue, where he hit a home run in 2001 as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Following the hit, Wolf replicated the “Bowling ball” celebration originally performed by former teammate Prince Fielder in 2009. Wolf later described his experience of the hit by stating he had “blacked out,” while noting that his performance on the night led him to compare his dual role to that of Shohei Ohtani.
The award presentation concluded Wolf’s participation in the game, which was reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and syndicated via Yahoo Sports. Wolf admitted he did not retrieve the home run ball after the hit, focusing instead on the accolades presented by the organisation.
Upon leaving the stadium, Wolf announced plans to take the large trophy on a trip to Rome. He joked that he intends to carry the award around Europe, treating it with the same reverence as the Stanley Cup, rather than returning home immediately.
