Florida State to host Kentucky wide receiver prospect Avery Thompson
The 2028 three-star prospect has scheduled a visit to the Seminoles on 29 October, shortly before their match against Clemson.
Florida State University has confirmed that it will host Avery Thompson, a 2028 three-star wide receiver from Paducah High School in Kentucky, on 29 October. According to Rivals, the visit is scheduled two days before Florida State takes on the Clemson Tigers, placing the prospect’s campus tour at a pivotal moment in the Seminoles’ regular season.
The timing of the visit suggests that Thompson may remain in Tallahassee to watch the game against Clemson. This inference is based on the fact that Thompson’s high school season concludes on 23 October against Calloway County, leaving him available for the Saturday match.
Thompson is currently ranked No. 548 nationally and No. 87 among wide receivers by Rivals. Within the state of Kentucky, he is considered the No. 5 prospect. His recruiting schedule is extensive, with confirmed visits to eight other institutions including Washington, Kentucky, Missouri, West Virginia, Illinois, Louisville, Indiana, and Ole Miss.
The prospect arrives at Florida State following a strong sophomore season at Paducah High School. Thompson recorded 70 receptions for 1,062 yards and 10 touchdowns during the campaign. He also demonstrated versatility in the backfield, gaining 97 yards on 18 carries, and contributed one touchdown pass.
The initial visit to Washington is scheduled for 6 September, followed by trips to Kentucky on 12 September and Missouri on 19 September. Thompson is set to visit West Virginia on 26 September, Illinois on 3 October, and Louisville on 9 October.
His schedule continues with a visit to Indiana on 17 October, followed by the confirmed trip to Florida State on 29 October. The final scheduled visit on his itinerary is to Ole Miss on 7 November.
