Five killed in reported Russian drone strike on passenger vehicle near Nikopol
Ukrainian regional officials said a drone attack near the frontline killed five people and injured at least seven others.
Five people were killed and at least seven injured in a reported Russian drone strike on a passenger vehicle near Nikopol in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region on Wednesday, according to regional officials cited by France 24.
Dnipropetrovsk Governor Oleksandr Hanzha said the attack occurred near Nikopol, a city on the Dnipro River opposite Russian-occupied territory. Officials described the vehicle as both a passenger bus and a minibus.
Hanzha released a photograph showing a white vehicle with blown-out windows and blood on its side. The casualty figures were provided by Ukrainian regional officials and may change.
Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council, attributed the strike to Russian forces and said the vehicle was carrying people travelling about their daily business. Russia had not immediately commented.
Nikopol has been regularly targeted during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Both Russia and Ukraine deny deliberately targeting civilians.
