Davis Fisher ended a winless run dating to 2021 by taking the American Flat Track Springfield Mile II SuperTwins season finale at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Fisher finished 0.009 seconds ahead of Australia’s Tom Drane. Drane, in turn, beat third-placed Trent Lowe by 0.048 seconds after the 25-lap race.

The result was Fisher’s seventh podium of the season and secured fourth place in the SuperTwins standings, his best career finish in the class. He said the team had resolved reliability problems during the season and was targeting momentum for his 2027 campaign.

Drane said a mistake exiting turn two on the final lap limited his chance to pass Fisher. He said he had sought to lead throughout the race, but could not use the draft after falling slightly behind.

The championship points race had already been settled on Saturday, when Mattoon’s Dallas Daniels won Springfield Mile I and claimed the title, according to the Yahoo Sports report.

Hillsboro’s Chase Saathoff won the AFT Singles race, the event digest reported.
