First Lady Melania Trump and Queen Camilla Launch Cross-Cultural VR Initiative at White House
American students utilise Meta Quest headsets and AI glasses to explore British landmarks while examining curated items from the White House Collection and National Archives.

First Lady Melania Trump and Her Majesty Queen Camilla have co-hosted an innovative cross-cultural educational program at the White House Tennis Pavilion. The event, conducted under the "Fostering the Future Together" initiative, utilised artificial intelligence and virtual reality to immerse a group of American students in British history and geography.
Participants engaged with the technology through Meta Quest headsets adorned with the initiative's logo alongside U.S. and U.K. flags. Using these devices, students accessed a fully-immersive, 360-degree experience that allowed them to virtually explore iconic British sites including Snowdonia, the Giant's Causeway, Stonehenge, and the exterior of Buckingham Palace.
The program also featured a presentation of historical artifacts curated by the First Lady from the White House Collection and the National Archives and Records Administration. These items were viewed through Meta's artificial intelligence glasses and included a portrait of President John Adams, a World War II situation map prepared for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and a bronze bust of Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Additional displays included Staffordshire ceramics reflecting early transatlantic cultural exchange and gifts exchanged during previous state visits. Mrs. Trump noted that the initiative aims to empower children globally by allowing them to access historically important sites without the need for travel, thereby enriching their educational experience through advanced virtual technology.
Several participants in the program were identified as current Presidential AI Challenge state champions, highlighting the intersection of academic achievement and emerging technology. Throughout the event, the First Lady and Her Majesty engaged directly with the students to discuss their learning experiences and encourage dialogue regarding the role of history and technology in modern education.
The event underscores the longstanding cultural ties between the United States and the United Kingdom, referencing the architectural achievements of the White House Tennis Pavilion from the 45th Administration as the venue. The initiative remains focused on the "BE BEST" programme, which seeks to utilise technology and education to foster global connections among young people.
