Fever fracture Liberty with record-breaking offensive surge in Indianapolis
The Indiana Fever defeated the New York Liberty 108-88 on Saturday, establishing new team records for second-half scoring and 100-point games while Kelsey Mitchell tied the franchise mark for 30-point performances in a single season.

The Indiana Fever secured a commanding 108-88 victory over the New York Liberty in Indianapolis on Saturday, a performance defined by sustained offensive efficiency and the establishment of multiple franchise benchmarks. The win, which marked the team’s largest margin of victory since 2009, saw the Fever overcome a 13-point deficit to dominate the second half and conclude the contest with significant statistical milestones.
WNBA All-Star Kelsey Mitchell was instrumental in the victory, scoring 33 points to record her fourth 30-point game of the season. This achievement ties the franchise record for such performances in a single season, a mark previously held by Caitlin Clark in 2024 and set by Mitchell herself in 2025. Mitchell’s consistency remains a central pillar of the team’s structure, as she extended her franchise-record streak of consecutive games with double-digit scoring to 41.
Mitchell’s impact extended beyond the 30-point threshold, as she recorded 20-plus points in 10 consecutive games, marking the fifth-longest streak in league history. With this performance, she moved into 12th place in WNBA history for career games with 20-plus points, surpassing Candace Parker with 128 such contests. Her current season total of 606 points ranks eighth in franchise history, with 18 games reaching the 20-point mark as she closes in on the single-season record of 24 set last year.
The Fever’s collective offensive output also reached historic levels, scoring 100 points for the tenth time this season. This places them one game away from tying the 2023 Las Vegas Aces for the most 100-point games in a single WNBA season. Additionally, the team’s 65 points in the second half set a new franchise record, highlighting a structural shift in their ability to maintain scoring intensity throughout the contest.
Individual contributions from other players further underscored the team’s depth and tactical execution. Caitlin Clark surpassed Tan White for the 15th-most career field goals in franchise history, reaching 457. Meanwhile, Myisha Hines-Allen became the only player in franchise history to achieve a plus/minus rating above 20 in under 15 minutes of play, posting a +22 in just 14 minutes off the bench.
Mitchell maintained a pragmatic perspective on the statistical accumulation, stating she was not focused on the numbers but rather on team chemistry and organizational success. Her approach emphasised stability, noting that avoiding excessive highs or lows was crucial to maintaining performance levels. The victory solidifies the Fever’s position through their remaining 18 games, driven by a balanced attack that has consistently challenged league-wide offensive records.
