Houston Texans wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders, an undrafted prospect from Colgate, demonstrated versatility during the team’s 27-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on August 13. Saunders accumulated 111 all-purpose yards, showcasing his value across multiple phases of the game. His performance included a notable 34-yard kick return in the second quarter, alongside receiving and rushing touches, highlighting the coaching staff’s intent to utilise his skill set extensively.
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Charles Demmings, a fifth-round draft pick from Stephen F. Austin, faced a stern test against the New York Giants. Although his statistical output was modest, recording two solo tackles, Demmings successfully matched up against high-profile receivers including Odell Beckham Jr. His ability to maintain defensive stability against elite competition suggests he has earned increased playing time in the Vikings’ secondary as the roster deadline approaches.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Cole Payton, also a fifth-round selection from North Dakota State, led the team in both rushing and passing yards during their loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Payton accounted for the Eagles’ only touchdown on the lone scoring drive, contributing 45 rushing yards and 37 passing yards. His performance underscored his potential to compete for a role in the quarterback room behind starter Jalen Hurts.
