Fallica revises college football outlook after uneven Week 1

Fallica said Alabama’s opening performance against East Carolina offered encouragement despite the level of opposition. The Crimson Tide led 38–10 at half-time, while Keelon Russell accounted for 342 total yards, including 86 rushing yards.
Oklahoma’s defence also drew a favourable assessment after the Sooners defeated UTEP. Fallica pointed to the team’s control of the game and said its planned meeting with Michigan could provide a more meaningful test.
Indiana defeated North Texas without being seriously threatened, although Fallica said the final margin did not fully reflect the contest. The Hoosiers scored 21 fourth-quarter points after North Texas controlled the ball for 37 minutes.
Notre Dame’s win over Wisconsin left Fallica with questions about the offence. He cited first-half struggles and the team’s need to replace two leading running backs while continuing to search for a game-breaking wide receiver before its trip to BYU.
Oregon’s performance against Boise State produced a separate warning. The Ducks committed 10 penalties and needed second-half plays from Dante Moore to answer Boise’s pressure, prompting Fallica to describe the display as a cause for concern.
