European Football Markets See Record Liquidity Amid July 2026 Transfer Activity
High-value transactions reshape squad architectures across the Premier League, EFL, and continental leagues as the window closes.

The July 2026 football transfer window has concluded following its reopening on 15 June, marking a period of significant financial realignment across the Premier League, English Football League, Scottish Premiership, and Women’s Super League. Clubs in Germany, France, Spain, and Italy also participated in the activity, which saw substantial capital deployment into player acquisitions and departures.
The most expensive transaction of the window was Morgan Rogers’ transfer from Aston Villa to Chelsea for £117m. This deal anchors a series of high-value moves that have altered the competitive landscape, including Sandro Tonali’s £100m switch from Newcastle to Tottenham and Mateus Fernandes’ £85m move from West Ham to the same club.
Arsenal completed several strategic acquisitions, including the £34m signing of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge and the addition of Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich. The club also secured the services of Melvine Malard from Manchester United for £850,000, while parting ways with Leandro Trossard, who joined Besiktas for £15.3m.
Tottenham Hotspur emerged as a primary recipient of capital, finalising the Tonali and Fernandes deals. The club also signed Alice Sombath from Lyon and saw Will Lankshear depart for Middlesbrough for £10m plus add-ons. Additionally, Radu Dragusin was loaned to Fiorentina, and Alfie Devine moved to Preston.
Beyond the top-tier Premier League activity, the window facilitated movement across the EFL and Scottish Premiership. Notable departures included Crysencio Summerville joining Al-Hilal for up to £60m and Johan Manzambi moving to Aston Villa for a fee reported at £50m-plus. The broader market saw numerous loans and free transfers, reflecting a complex restructuring of squad resources across European football.
