ESPN Analyst Predicts Raiders’ Jeanty for Breakout Year Under Kubiak

ESPN analyst Ben Solak has identified Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty as a primary candidate for a breakout performance in the 2026 NFL season. The prediction centres on the strategic overhaul implemented by new head coach Klint Kubiak, who is expected to alter the team’s offensive geometry to maximise the ball carrier’s opportunities.

Solak’s assessment highlights a shift towards heavier personnel groupings, specifically 12 and 13 personnel formations. These structures, which feature additional tight ends and fullbacks, are designed to create more under-center sets and increase the number of blockers on the field. This tactical adjustment aims to address the low volume of carries Jeanty experienced during his rookie campaign.

The Raiders have bolstered their supporting cast to facilitate this new approach. Free agent acquisition Connor Heyward has been brought in to serve as a fullback, directly supporting the heavier formations. Additionally, the offensive line has seen significant reinforcement through the free agency signing of centre Tyler Linderbaum and the draft selection of guard Trey Zuhn III with the No. 91 overall pick.

These structural changes are intended to improve run blocking and enhance play-action opportunities, which could allow Jeanty to find more consistent gaps in defences. Solak noted that while the Raiders’ offence remains a work in progress, the addition of talent and the improved line quality should provide a more stable foundation for a down-to-down productive season.

Jeanty enters his second year having rushed for 975 yards in 2025, finishing just 25 yards short of the 1,000-yard milestone. The expectation is that the combination of increased carries, better blocking, and new offensive schemes will enable him to surpass that mark and establish himself as a key component of the Raiders’ attack in 2026.
