A trunk of equipment failed to arrive at the stadium on time, resulting in first-base umpire Stu Scheurwater, second-base umpire Junior Valentine, and third-base umpire Jordan Baker beginning the match in non-standard trousers.

Home-plate umpire Rob Drake was the only member of the crew to wear standard gear, as his equipment had arrived as scheduled. The delay forced the other three officials to wear the trousers they had worn to the stadium, a deviation from protocol that was noted by fans and shared on social media by Dan Hayes of Major League Baseball.

The uniform discrepancy drew immediate reactions from team personnel. Brewers manager Pat Murphy joked about the early appearance, comparing the look to the team's offensive performance. Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan suggested that Scheurwater was wearing trousers with a Lululemon fit, while Brewers second baseman Brice Turang remarked that the umpires should adopt the less rigid look more often.

Despite the sartorial distraction, the officiating crew played a decisive role in the game's outcome. Third-base umpire Jordan Baker made a pivotal obstruction call in the eighth inning that allowed the Brewers to tie the game at 2-2. One batter later, Jake Bauers hit a double to put Milwaukee ahead for good.

Following the conclusion of the match, the umpiring crew declined to comment to a pool reporter regarding both the attire incident and the critical obstruction call. The umpires were able to change into the correct uniforms later in the game, but the initial logistical failure remained a notable footnote in the Brewers' win.
