Ennis targets undisputed status at 154lbs following super welterweight victory
Jaron 'Boots' Ennis outlines his path to unifying the 154lb division after securing two belts in the super welterweight category.

Jaron 'Boots' Ennis has declared his intention to move up to the 154lb division to pursue undisputed championship status following his recent super welterweight title victory. Speaking to Ring Magazine after claiming two belts in the super welterweight category, Ennis outlined his ambition to unify the division and described his approach to the sport as highly adaptable.
Ennis characterised his fighting style as that of a "variety bag," emphasising his capacity to dictate the pace and nature of bouts. He noted that he tailors his performance to each opponent, citing his recent gritty work against Zayas, a first-round knockout in a previous bout, and a technical boxing display against Stanionis as evidence of his versatility.
The boxer also highlighted the influence of his family on his career development, noting that his brothers and father, both former fighters, provide critical guidance. Ennis stated that he follows their advice because they have experienced the highest levels of the sport and can identify aspects of his game that he cannot see himself.
Regarding his recent training camp, Ennis revealed that he prepared for five months for his fight against Zayas due to multiple opponent switches. The bout was initially scheduled against Lubin before being changed to Zayas, with Ennis maintaining his training regimen from January through to the May fight date.
Ennis addressed past opportunities to fight top-tier opponents such as Errol Spence Jr., Keith Thurman, and Shawn Porter, noting that he was previously labelled as "high risk/low reward." He dismissed the need to fight Spence, suggesting the American boxer should retire and enjoy his life, while expressing readiness to face the current champions in the 154lb division.
