Dynasty Fantasy Football Rankings Shift as Cleveland Browns Tight End Outlook Deteriorates
The departure of a tight-end-friendly head coach and increased wide receiver depth in Cleveland have prompted a significant re-rating of asset value for the upcoming season.
Dynasty Fantasy Football analyst Heath Cummings has released updated rankings for the 2026 season, marking a significant adjustment in the valuation of Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. Cummings has moved the player from a TE4 ranking in January to TE8 following the conclusion of the NFL Draft.
The primary driver for this downgrade is the departure of head coach Kevin Stefanski, widely regarded as one of the most tight-end-friendly coaches in the league. Cummings notes that the Browns have also spent two top-40 draft picks on wide receivers, specifically targeting KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. This increased depth at the receiver position is expected to reduce the target share available to Fannin, transforming his outlook from a top-tier asset to an offseason loser in the eyes of the analyst.
Despite Fannin's remarkable 2025 performance, which included 72 catches, 731 yards, and six touchdowns in a league where the Browns ranked 31st in passing yards and 30th in passing touchdowns, the structural changes to the offense have altered his projected value. In recent trade negotiations involving Tucker Kraft, Kyle Pitts, and Fannin, Cummings observed that Fannin was identified as the cheapest asset among the three, a stark contrast to his previous standing.
Conversely, the analysis highlights Sam LaPorta as a riser for the 2026 season. This positive outlook is attributed to the appointment of Drew Petzig as the play-caller for the Detroit Lions. Petzig is described as a disciple of Stefanski who oversaw the success of Trey McBride, suggesting he will implement a more tight-end-centric offence that could boost LaPorta's production.
Travis Kelce is also identified as a potential riser, though his role is viewed differently from that of LaPorta. While Kelce remains a top-five tight end with Patrick Mahomes, his age makes him a viable cheap addition for championship contenders rather than a cornerstone for long-term dynasty builds. The Chiefs' early focus on defense in the draft suggests their offensive scheme will not be negatively impacted by the presence of Rashee Rice or Kelce.
Cummings also flagged the quarterback situation in Cleveland as a variable that could influence Fannin's ceiling. While the team has not upgraded the quarterback room, Deshaun Watson's potential return is noted as a possibility. However, Watson's historical low tight end target rate with Stefanski stands in contrast to Shedeur Sanders, who heavily fed Fannin in 2025, creating uncertainty regarding the tight end's long-term target volume.
