The ceremony, attended only by club executives and the players’ families, marked the presentation of the third of six new signings this week, following the introduction of manager Jose Mourinho.
Dumfries, who has committed to the club with a contract running until 2030, framed his arrival as both a personal dream and a significant institutional responsibility. Speaking to Real Madrid TV, the 30-year-old right-back described the move as a "huge responsibility" and expressed eagerness to begin the season. He noted that playing for the club is a dream for many, a sentiment he linked to his long-term visualisation of career goals.
The defender placed particular emphasis on the club’s historic record, specifically its collection of 15 Champions League trophies. Dumfries stated that seeing the trophies in person made him "even prouder to be here" and increased his desire to add to the collection. He described the goal as winning more, positioning his tenure within the context of the club’s ongoing pursuit of European dominance.
In his assessment of the squad, Dumfries highlighted the depth of talent available to the coaching staff. He noted that the dressing room environment is at the "highest level," citing the presence of high-profile players such as Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, and Thibaut Courtois. He also acknowledged the arrival of World champion Marc Cucurella, who joined the club earlier this summer, further reinforcing the squad’s competitive structure.
Dumfries offered specific praise for President Perez, referring to him as "history" and a figure whose contributions to the club are widely recognised. The defender expressed pride in shaking the president’s hand and standing alongside him, stating that the objective is to make Perez proud during his time in office.
