DR Congo lead Group E as Botswana hold Tunisia in AFCON qualifying
Yoane Wissa scored and assisted in DR Congo’s 2-1 win over Zimbabwe, while Botswana stayed top of Group H after a 2-2 draw in Tunisia.
DR Congo moved to six points from two matches in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, beating Zimbabwe 2-1 in Harare. The result gave the Congolese side a second straight win and the lead in Group E.
Yoane Wissa opened the scoring in the 30th minute, then set up Samuel Moutoussamy’s goal in first-half added time. Marshall Munetsi scored Zimbabwe’s consolation in the 93rd minute.
The match marked Zimbabwe’s first home international in Harare since November 2021, after the venue underwent renovations. DR Congo had begun qualifying with a 2-0 win over Equatorial Guinea.
Tunisia drew 2-2 at home with Botswana. After Hazem Mastouri scored twice, Botswana equalised through substitute Lebogang Ditsele; the draw was Botswana’s second in succession.
Botswana remain top of Group H on goals scored, ahead of Tunisia. Elsewhere, Equatorial Guinea beat Sierra Leone 1-0 and Burkina Faso defeated the Central African Republic by the same score.
