Dodgers tie MLB record with 14th consecutive postseason appearance
Los Angeles secured a place in the 2026 postseason with a 4–1 win over Cincinnati, matching the longest streak in MLB history.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have secured their 14th consecutive Major League Baseball postseason appearance, tying the league record with a 4–1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
The win clinched Los Angeles’ place in the 2026 postseason and, according to Fox Sports, eliminated Cincinnati from contention. The Reds will therefore not make back-to-back postseason appearances.
The Dodgers’ run is an unusually sustained achievement in MLB, where most of the league’s longest postseason appearance streaks have lasted considerably fewer than 14 seasons.
Fox Sports’ review of streaks lasting at least five consecutive seasons includes the New York Yankees’ runs from 1949 to 1953 and 1960 to 1964, the Oakland Athletics from 1971 to 1975 and the Philadelphia Phillies from 2007 to 2011.
The 2026 MLB postseason is scheduled to begin on 29 September with the Wild Card Series. The World Series is scheduled to start on 23 October.
