Distance runners secure podium finishes across UK, Israel and US races
A series of track and road events in early July saw multiple distance runners achieve significant results, including podium placements in the UK and national championships in Israel and the US.
British distance runners Adam Fogg and Finley McLear have been active in a series of competitions across Ireland and the United Kingdom in early July. Fogg, a member of the UA Mission Run Baltimore Distance squad, competed in the mile at the Cork City Sports event in Cork on 8 July. He led through the 1,500-metre mark before finishing third with a time of 3:55.13. Two days later at the Morton Games in Dublin, Fogg recorded a faster time of 3:52.82 but placed fifth in the same event.
McLear also competed in the mile at Cork, finishing eighth in 4:04.05. He subsequently shifted focus to the 800 metres at the British Milers Club Grand Prix in Watford on 11 July. McLear secured a close third place with a time of 1:46.99, trailing winner Adrian Engstler of Germany by just 0.36 seconds. Both runners had previously competed at the Novuna UK Athletics Championships in Birmingham, where neither advanced beyond their respective heats.
In Israel, Adva Cohen won the national championship in the 3,000 metres steeplechase in Tel Aviv on 9 July. Competing for the Armor Dark Sky team in Flagstaff, Arizona, Cohen finished in 9:48.81, winning by more than a minute. This victory marks her ninth Israeli national title, adding to her six-time NJCAA championship record. She currently holds the Israeli national record of 9:19.90, set at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September 2025.
In the United States, Mallory Lindaman placed third in the Women's 800 Pre event on 10 July with a time of 2:03.93. The race was won by fellow American Olivia Howell in 2:02.73. Lindaman, a former competitor for the University of Iowa, continues her strong season with this podium finish.
US-based runners also secured victories in local road and cross-country races in Iowa. Joe Langridge won the Moonlight Chase 4-mile race in Eldridge on 11 July with a time of 19:31, ranking second best in Running Wild Elite history. Rowan Boulter won the women's title at the same event in 24:32. Tyler Schermerhorn won the Midnight Madness 5K in Ames on 10 July in 15:22, while Pasca Cheruiyot took the women's title in 18:03. Will Lohr won the Iowa Games Cross Country 5K in Ames on 11 July with a time of 15:32, and Sasha Gallagher won the women's race in 18:49.
