Diamondbacks Place Ketel Marte On Restricted List After No-Show Vs. Red Sox
Institutional response to absence delays lineup announcement

The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed All-Star infielder Ketel Marte on the restricted list after he failed to appear for Monday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox. The club did not provide an official explanation for the administrative move, which resulted in the delayed posting of their starting lineup until approximately 15 minutes before first pitch.

According to reports from the Arizona Republic, Marte had travelled with the team to Boston but did not arrive at the ballpark. While the team withheld specific details, reports indicated that the absence was not related to an injury.

In response to the vacancy, the Diamondbacks recalled infielder Jose Fernandez from Triple-A to fill the roster spot. Fernandez, who was already in Boston and had been carried on the roster in anticipation of potential injuries to third baseman Nolan Arenado, was subsequently named in the starting lineup.

Marte, a three-time All-Star, is currently batting .249 with 21 home runs and 67 RBIs across 118 games this season. The placement on the restricted list mirrors a similar incident one year ago, when Marte was placed on the list following a break-in at his home during the All-Star break, an event that led to him missing three games after returning to the Dominican Republic.

The Diamondbacks have not yet confirmed the specific circumstances surrounding this latest absence, leaving the reason for the no-show unverified by the organisation.
