Diamondbacks activate Corbin Burnes for return from elbow surgery
Arizona has scheduled Burnes to make his first start since 1 June 2025 against the Kansas City Royals.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have activated starting pitcher Corbin Burnes from the 60-day injured list, clearing the way for his scheduled return against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.
Burnes has been sidelined since 1 June 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery to repair an elbow injury. The scheduled start will be his first since the injury, although the supplied reporting does not give a result for the game.
Arizona also added pitcher Kade Strowo from its Triple-A affiliate and optioned pitchers Gerardo Carrillo and Jose Cabrera.
Burnes is in his second season with the Diamondbacks after signing a six-year, US$210 million contract before the 2025 season. He had made 11 starts before his injury, recording a 3–2 record and a 2.66 earned-run average.
Yahoo Sports reported that Burnes won the 2021 National League Cy Young Award with the Milwaukee Brewers. Arizona entered Tuesday with a 77–68 record, second in the National League West and holding the third National League wild-card position.
