Dembele rejects Al-Hilal approach to prioritise PSG extension

Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele has formally rejected a transfer approach from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, choosing instead to focus on securing a contract extension with the French champions. The 29-year-old France international, who is currently under contract until 2028, informed the Saudi side of his lack of interest in leaving the club this summer.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Dembele made his intentions clear to Al-Hilal, citing a desire to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes. This rejection is expected to accelerate negotiations for an improved deal with PSG, who are keen to retain the core of their squad following their recent European success.
Dembele’s decision comes after a prolific period for the winger, who recorded 20 goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances for PSG during the 2025/26 season. His performances were instrumental in Luis Enrique’s side defending their UEFA Champions League title, defeating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties in the final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. This victory marks PSG’s second consecutive European crown.
On the international stage, Dembele continued his strong form by scoring six goals and providing two assists for France across eight appearances at the 2026 World Cup. Having previously struggled with inconsistency and injury setbacks earlier in his career, he has now established himself as one of Europe’s most influential attackers.
Al-Hilal had identified Dembele as a marquee target to further strengthen their star-studded roster, following the recent acquisition of Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United. The Riyadh-based club has also been linked with Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye as they continue their recruitment drive.
Meanwhile, PSG are looking to bolster their attack further. The club is targeting the signing of Maghnes Akliouche and a new striker to replace Goncalo Ramos, who has departed the squad. Dembele’s commitment to staying in Paris provides stability as the club navigates these potential roster changes.
