Delta to Match US$1,000 Government Deposit for Eligible Workers’ Children
The airline says qualifying children could start with US$2,000 in Trump Accounts, though enrolment is opt-in and match details remain limited.

Delta Air Lines will provide a US$1,000 match for eligible employees’ children who qualify for the US government’s US$1,000 opening deposit into Trump Accounts, according to a 2 September announcement cited by TheStreet. The combined starting balance would be US$2,000.
The benefit applies to qualifying children born on or after 1 January 2025. Further details on employee eligibility, the enrolment process and when Delta would post the match have not been provided in the source material.
Trump Accounts are described as opt-in. The federal deposit requires an election using IRS Form 4547 and activation through the Trump Accounts app or website, according to information attributed to the US Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service.
Delta’s announcement follows a similar US$1,000 matching commitment from American Airlines on 31 August. The source also cites matching programmes announced by employers including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.
Delta has not announced an equivalent to American Airlines’ proposed option allowing eligible workers to direct up to US$2,500 a year of pretax pay into their children’s accounts once Treasury rules are finalised. A one-time US$2,000 balance could grow to about US$11,600 by age 18 under assumptions cited from the Council of Economic Advisers, but that estimate is not guaranteed.
