Dan Quinn faces heightened pressure after Commanders’ difficult 2025
Washington’s 5–12 season, staff changes and Week 1 loss have placed the Commanders coach among five NFL coaches identified as being on the hot seat.
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has been identified by CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles as one of five NFL coaches on the hot seat in 2026, in an assessment reported by Yahoo Sports.
The judgement follows Washington’s 5–12 record in 2025, when the team missed the postseason. Quinn attributed part of the decline to injuries and acknowledged that standards had slipped.
The Commanders replaced both coordinators during the off-season and added players to strengthen the roster. However, concerns about the offensive line and the team’s pre-season performances have continued to shape expectations around Quinn’s second season after a difficult campaign.
Washington began 2026 with a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, increasing scrutiny around the coaching staff. The early schedule also includes divisional games against the Dallas Cowboys and a home fixture against the Seattle Seahawks.
Quinn led Washington to a 12–5 record and the NFC Championship game in 2024. His record with the Commanders is stated as 17–17, including one playoff berth, while his overall career record is 60–59 with three playoff berths.
