Dak Prescott overtakes Tony Romo as Cowboys’ touchdown record-holder
Prescott’s 249th passing touchdown moved him past Tony Romo at the top of the Dallas Cowboys’ franchise list.
Dak Prescott has become the Dallas Cowboys’ all-time leader in passing touchdowns, overtaking Tony Romo during Dallas’s Week 2 game against the Washington Commanders.
Prescott’s fourth touchdown of the game, and his second pass to CeeDee Lamb, took his career total to 249 and moved him beyond Romo’s franchise mark. CBS Sports reported that Prescott reached the record in 15 fewer games than his predecessor.
The milestone adds to Prescott’s standing across the Cowboys’ statistical history. Before the game, he already held the franchise records for completion percentage at 66.9 per cent, passing yards with 36,164 and passer rating at 98.2, according to CBS Sports.
Prescott entered the game three touchdowns behind Romo. He said he was humbled and grateful for the opportunity, while indicating he expected to continue playing for a long time.
The record places Prescott alongside Romo, Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach among the notable quarterbacks in Cowboys history. His final passing-touchdown total for the game was not specified.
