Cowboys bolster pass rush with reported signing of Von Miller
The Dallas Cowboys are expected to add the eight-time Pro Bowler to their defensive line, with Miller unofficially confirming the move on social media following a season with Washington.
The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly agreed to a deal with two-time Super Bowl champion edge rusher Von Miller, according to reporting by ESPN. The move sees the veteran defender returning to his home state of Texas after spending the previous season with the Washington Commanders.
Miller, who grew up in DeSoto, Texas, unofficially confirmed the potential transfer on his official X account by posting a graphic of himself in a Cowboys uniform. While the report indicates the team is expected to sign the player, the confirmation remains unofficial, lacking a formal press release or detailed contract terms at this stage.
The acquisition brings significant historical production to the Cowboys' defensive line. Miller is the active NFL leader in career sacks with 138.5, a total that ties him with DeMarcus Ware for ninth place on the all-time list. His career statistics also include 27 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries across 203 regular-season games.
During his tenure with Washington last season, the 37-year-old recorded nine sacks in 17 regular-season games. The move keeps Miller within the NFC East, adding an experienced pass rusher to a unit that has been revamped ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Miller’s career has been marked by sustained excellence, including eight Pro Bowl selections, three first-team All-Pro honours, and Super Bowl 50 MVP status. He previously secured Super Bowl victories with both the Denver Broncos, where he spent 9.5 years, and the Los Angeles Rams.
The signing arrives as the Cowboys enter the season with high expectations. Quarterback Dak Prescott, who led the league in passing yards last season with 4,552 yards, will be supported by this strengthened defensive presence.
With rosters across the league finalising just weeks before the regular season begins, the Cowboys have projected a 9.5-win total for the upcoming campaign. They are currently favoured in 11 games, reflecting the institutional confidence in their revised roster construction.
