Control Resonant offers three Assist Mode presets and adjustable settings for damage, falter damage, projectile speed and enemy aggression, according to an Engadget review published on 30 September.

The feature gives players ways to tailor specific challenges rather than lower the difficulty across the whole game. The reviewer says the options helped with encounters that could otherwise involve repeated deaths or slowly wearing down powerful enemies.

In post-game content, the reviewer made modest changes to falter damage and power recovery. They said the adjustments made fights against rare Apex monsters feel more manageable while preserving a sense of power.

The review also describes difficulty in areas crowded with mould enemies and in fights against damage-heavy bosses. Fire-based attacks proved effective against the mould creatures, the reviewer said, after unlocking those powers.

Remedy’s Day 1 patch apparently eased the early difficulty curve, according to the review, though that account is not independently verified in the source material. Control, the 2019 predecessor, also received an Assist Mode after launch.
