Commanders players feature prominently in Yahoo Sports fantasy rankings
Wide receiver Terry McLaurin leads the group at No. 42, with Jayden Daniels, Stefon Diggs, and Jacory Crockett-Merritt also securing positions in the top tier.
Yahoo Sports analyst Justin Boone has released his Top 300 fantasy football rankings for full points per reception leagues, highlighting a strong showing from the Washington Commanders. Released on 11 August, the list features eight Commanders players in total, with four securing positions within the top 100.
Wide receiver Terry McLaurin tops the Commanders’ contingent, ranked No. 42 overall and No. 23 among wide receivers. Boone suggests McLaurin is a viable draft option between the fifth and seventh rounds, noting his capacity to generate significant fantasy points. This projection follows a 2024 season where McLaurin recorded over 1,000 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Commanders’ previous season was marked by significant regression, partly due to injury. Quarterback Jayden Daniels played only seven games, while McLaurin missed seven matches, the most he has ever sat out in a single season. Despite these absences, Washington is viewed as a favourite for a playoff return this season, contingent on the health of its key players.
Newly added wide receiver Stefon Diggs is ranked No. 63 overall. Diggs arrives from the New England Patriots, where he recorded over 1,000 receiving yards and four touchdowns last season. Although McLaurin remains the No. 1 receiver on the team’s unofficial depth chart, Diggs is considered a potential starter in flex positions or as a backup, with expectations that he may find the end zone more frequently with Daniels under centre.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels is ranked No. 67 overall, placing him third among quarterbacks behind Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. Daniels’ high ranking is attributed to his rushing ability; he averaged nearly 40 rushing yards per game last season, adding two rushing touchdowns to his eight passing scores. However, Boone advises caution, citing Daniels’ history of missing time due to the physical toll of running the ball.
Completing the top 100 is running back Jacory Crockett-Merritt at No. 84. As a rookie, Crockett-Merritt finished last season with 805 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, though he had minimal involvement in the passing game. He enters the current season as the clear No. 1 running back for Washington.
