Washington’s initial loss was a narrow 24-22 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, a contest in which the Commanders remained within a late two-point attempt. Conversely, Dallas fell 28-20 to the New York Giants, a game in which the Cowboys failed to capitalise on scoring opportunities in the final stages.
The betting markets reflect a slight edge for the home side, with the Cowboys listed as 3.5-point favourites. The total points line is set at 50.5, while the moneyline stands at -214 for Dallas and +178 for Washington.
Offensive performance in the opening week highlighted distinct tactical approaches. Washington’s quarterback Jayden Daniels threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 31 rushing yards on five carries without a turnover. Defensive metrics also offer points of interest. Washington’s defence recorded 10 tackles for loss and three sacks in Week 1, while Dallas forced four fumbles and recovered one. The Cowboys allowed 28 points in their opener, ranking 21st in points allowed per game through one week.
