Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen has been formally charged with two misdemeanours following an alleged drink-driving incident, according to court records reported by Fox Sports and the Associated Press.
The charges relate to operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to 0.15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Allen posted a US$500 cash bond, while his lawyers waived an initial hearing.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said officers began a traffic investigation shortly after 1am on 30 August after observing a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone. Police said they noticed signs of intoxication when speaking with Allen and arrested him after further investigation.
Allen, 34, has not publicly addressed the incident. Colts coach Shane Steichen declined to comment before training, where Allen was expected to participate; the material does not confirm whether he did.
The receiver is in his first season with Indianapolis after spending 12 of his previous 13 seasons with the San Diego–Los Angeles Chargers.
