Colorado State head coach Jim Mora Jr. reassigned defensive playcalling from coordinator Tyson Summers to Kenny McClendon during the first half against Oregon State. The Rams lost 56–26.

Mora said after the game that Summers had been relieved of playcalling duties, had left the field and was no longer with the football programme. The statement did not specify when Summers formally departed.

CBS Sports, citing sources, reported that McClendon would take over as defensive coordinator. The report places the playcalling change in the first half; a sideline reporter cited in the account said McClendon had been calling plays since around midway through the first quarter.

The change did not halt Oregon State’s scoring. The Beavers scored 14 points in the first quarter, 21 in the second and 21 in the second half.

CBS Sports reported Colorado State had conceded an average of 34.3 points per game before the match, ranking 129th nationally. Mora is in his first season as head coach after leaving UConn.
