Colorado football secures top 2027 recruit following Texas loss

Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders and his recruitment staff have secured the commitment of four-star defensive tackle Ben'Jarvius Shumaker from Ole Miss for the 2027 class. Shumaker, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound prospect from Mississippi, had been on Colorado’s radar for several months. Nationally, the Buffs’ standing has improved. The team ranks 35th via On3/Rivals and 37th per 247Sports. These positions place Colorado ahead of programs such as Duke, West Virginia, and Ole Miss in certain national metrics. The program currently holds 16 total commitments for the 2027 class.
Shumaker is expected to form the core of the defensive front alongside fellow interior prospect Kenny Fairley.
