Cincinnati Bearcats extend basketball scholarship offer to five-star prospect Kameron Mercer

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats have officially extended a basketball scholarship offer to five-star shooting guard Kameron Mercer. The recruitment development was confirmed by Mercer on his social media accounts on 5 May 2026, following a recent recruiting visit to the campus. This agreement represents a strategic pivot for the Princeton High School graduate, who had previously indicated an intention to join the Overtime Elite league in Atlanta.

The current offer was extended by the staff of new head coach Jerrod Calhoun. This recruitment effort distinguishes itself from an initial proposal made in October 2024, which was originated by the former coaching staff under Wes Miller. The recent engagement by the Calhoun administration underscores the program's renewed focus on securing top-tier talent for the upcoming season. Mercer, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound shooting guard, led Princeton High School to their first boys' state basketball title with a dominant 25–3 record. During his sophomore campaign, he averaged 14.2 points per game, complemented by 5.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists. His performance included a season-high scoring effort of 27 points against Colerain in January and a standout double-double performance against Wayne. These statistics, combined with his leadership in winning a state championship, have positioned him as a premier prospect in the Ohio Division I landscape.
