Chiefs’ rushing strategy drives 31–10 win over Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos 31–10, combining an aggressive rushing strategy with the return of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Kenneth Walker III led the performance on his Chiefs debut after joining from the Seattle Seahawks. He rushed for 173 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown, in what Fox Sports reported was the most rushing yards by a Kansas City player during the Mahomes era.
The Chiefs signalled their approach from the opening drive, giving Walker seven carries. They later used a jumbo package featuring extra offensive linemen and nose tackle Khyiris Tonga to convert a fourth-and-1 from their own 40-yard line.
Walker broke through after the conversion and ran 60 yards for the decisive touchdown. Josh Ezeudu, acquired from the New York Giants late in the preseason, and Tonga were used in supporting blocking roles.
Mahomes’ return was another central feature of the victory after he missed the end of the previous season with a knee issue. Denver managed 176 total yards, while Bo Nix threw an interception and lost a fumble.
