The Kansas City Chiefs have secured their franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future, with Patrick Mahomes signing a contract extension valued at $504.75 million. The deal, announced on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, extends Mahomes’ tenure with the team through the 2033 season, effectively tying him to the organisation for the next seven years.
Equity Sports, Mahomes’ representation agency, confirmed the agreement via X, describing the package as “the largest contract in NFL history… yet again.” The agency’s post highlighted the “historic” and “game-changing” nature of the deal, noting that it was negotiated by Equity Sports CEO Chris Cabott. The announcement was subsequently confirmed by ESPN, which reported the specific extension of the contract timeline.
The signing was a family affair, with Mahomes supported by his wife, Brittany, and their three children: daughter Sterling Skye, aged five; son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III, aged three; and daughter Golden Raye, aged 16 months. The family was photographed wearing the team’s signature red as Mahomes finalised the paperwork. A video of the event, originally posted by the Chiefs’ official account, captured the moment with the caption, “The Mahomes are here to stay.”
Mahomes, 30, who has been with the Chiefs since 2017, shared the footage and accompanying photos on Instagram. In his post, he expressed gratitude to the fans and the community, writing, “CHIEFS KINGDOM!!!! We are here to stay! Love this place and the people that are apart of it and thank yall for being there for me and my family everyday! We ain’t done yet tho!”
The announcement drew immediate reactions from within the team and the family. Fellow player and friend Travis Kelce commented on Mahomes’ Instagram post with an enthusiastic message of support. Brittany Mahomes also took to social media to celebrate the milestone, stating, “Red is our color & Kansas City is our home.” The deal marks the latest in a series of record-breaking agreements for Mahomes, reinforcing his status as a central figure in the league’s financial landscape.
