Celtics forward Jaylen Brown pledges decade-long stay to franchise amid roster speculation

Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has publicly reaffirmed his long-term commitment to the franchise, stating that if the decision were entirely his, he would remain with the team for the next 10 years. The declaration comes as the player seeks to quell recent speculation regarding his relationship with the organisation, specifically addressing claims made by Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady on a recent podcast episode.

Speaking on his Twitch stream, Brown explicitly dismissed the notion of deep-seated frustrations within the Celtics organisation. He expressed frustration that president of basketball operations Brad Stevens felt compelled to respond to external narratives, noting that their last conversation was nothing but positive. Brown confirmed he has a great relationship with Stevens and reiterated his love for Boston, effectively countering the suggestion that a rift exists between the star forward and the front office.

Despite a first-round exit against the Philadelphia 76ers and a $50,000 fine imposed by the NBA for comments on officiating, Brown described the 2025-26 season as his favourite of his career. He cited the team's growth and resilience as the defining factors, particularly noting how the roster overcame adversity during a period when Jayson Tatum was sidelined due to a torn Achilles. The Celtics finished the season with a 56-26 record and secured the No. 2 seed in the East under these challenging circumstances.

Brown addressed the controversy surrounding his remarks on Game 7, where he accused officials of having an agenda and criticised Joel Embiid for flopping. He stated he had no regrets about the comments and accepted the fine, emphasising his care for the consistency of officiating between the playoffs and regular season. He told his audience that while winning a championship is great, the collective mindset and approach displayed by the group during the season made it his preferred year.

Looking ahead, Brown noted his eligibility to sign a two-year, $141.9 million contract extension with the Celtics in July. His comments serve as a clear signal of stability for the franchise, reinforcing that his personal ambitions align with the team's future plans.
