Celtic could reopen talks for Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis in January after their reported summer pursuit failed to produce an agreement.
Football Insider reports that Celtic offered about £9 million for the 22-year-old Lithuania international, while Torino valued him closer to £13 million. No personal terms were agreed, with Celtic reportedly seeking to settle the transfer fee first.
The move reportedly stalled after Celtic missed out on Champions League qualification, reducing the funds available for recruitment. The club subsequently signed Oliver Sørensen after failing to secure Gineitis.
Gineitis made 31 appearances for Torino in league and cup competitions last season. He was substituted at half-time during Torino’s 2–0 defeat by Roma on 14 September, although the available information does not establish that the change reflected any alteration in his position at the club.
A January approach remains possible, but no renewed bid or negotiations have been confirmed. Any return to the deal would depend on whether Celtic and Torino could bridge the reported gap in their valuations.
