Celtic break transfer record with £11m signing of Kasper Hogh
The acquisition of Kasper Hogh marks the second summer signing for the Scottish champions, following Camilo Duran, as the board attempts to address mounting pressure from supporters.
Celtic have secured the signature of Danish striker Kasper Hogh from Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt in a deal reported to be a club-record £11m. The 25-year-old forward has agreed to a four-year contract with an option for a further year, becoming the Scottish champions' second signing of the summer window.
The move follows the arrival of Camilo Duran and is widely viewed as a strategic response to fan dissatisfaction regarding the departure of Daizen Maeda to Ipswich Town. The combined cost of the two new recruits is reported to be approximately £15m, with both players arriving with recent experience in the Champions League.
Hogh, who scored 54 goals in 103 games for Bodo/Glimt, described the move as a "really good match" for his career. He cited the club's history and positive feedback from family and contacts as key factors in his decision. "When I came into the room and saw the shirt, I was really excited," Hogh told Celtic TV.
The striker arrives in strong form, having been joint top scorer in the Europa League last season with seven goals and finishing as Bodo/Glimt's top scorer in 2025 with 17 goals. His recent resume includes goals against Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, as well as a senior goal for Denmark in their World Cup play-off final against the Czech Republic.
The acquisition aims to stabilise the squad ahead of the new season, addressing unrest among the support after the exit of last season's title hero Maeda. Hogh's career path includes spells at Randers, Hobro, Valur, AaB, and Stabaek before his breakthrough at Bodo/Glimt in January 2024.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill and his staff are expected to integrate Hogh into a system designed to replicate his success in Norway. The striker, who has scored once in four caps for Denmark, is viewed as a penalty-box forward capable of delivering at the highest level.
