CBS Sports analyst flags high-value NFL players as potential 2026 fantasy busts

CBS Sports analyst Jamey Eisenberg has issued a cautionary advisory for the upcoming 2026 NFL fantasy season, identifying De'Von Achane, Chris Olave and Malik Nabers as potential busts if they are selected at their current high average draft positions. The recommendation stems from concerns regarding offensive instability, injury risks and heightened roster competition, suggesting these players may not deliver value in early-round drafts.

Eisenberg argues that offensive instability could significantly limit the return on investment for these players. Specifically, he highlights the situation in Miami, where the lack of talent around De'Von Achane and the uncertainty surrounding quarterback Malik Willis could restrict Achane's involvement in the passing game. While Achane has averaged 86 targets in the past two seasons, defenses may focus more on stopping him given the receiving corps led by a combination of Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and others.

In New Orleans, the addition of first-round rookie Jordyn Tyson presents a new variable for Chris Olave. Although Olave set career highs in catches and yards during the 2025 season, Eisenberg expresses concern that Tyson could steal targets, particularly if Olave struggles to maintain his production without the support of Rashid Shaheed. The analyst views Olave as a high-end No. 2 receiver but advises passing on him at his current average draft position of No. 20 overall.

Malik Nabers faces similar hurdles following a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee. Eisenberg notes that while Nabers is the player most likely to come off the bust list once healthy, his availability for training camp and Week 1 remains uncertain. The Giants have also beefed up their receiving corps with additions such as Isaiah Likely and Darnell Mooney, which could impact Nabers' production as quarterback Jaxson Dart builds a rapport with the new group.

The analysis relies on data from FantasyPros and reflects the analyst's opinion released prior to the 2026 season. Eisenberg suggests that actual performance may vary based on team changes and player development, noting that bust status is subjective and depends on individual league scoring formats. He recommends waiting to draft Achane until Round 2, Nabers until early Round 3 and Olave until Round 3 to mitigate these risks.
