Castleford Tigers have ended a three-match losing streak in the Super League with an 18-14 victory over Hull FC at the MKM Stadium on Friday. The result lifts Castleford to ninth place in the competition table, while Hull FC remain in 12th position.
The Tigers had endured a difficult period prior to the match, conceding 144 points across successive defeats against Wakefield, Warrington, and Hull KR. Castleford opened the scoring after 10 minutes through Renouf Atoni, who took a short ball at speed, with Tom Weaver adding the conversion. Mikaele Ravalawa later extended the lead after Phoenix Laulu-Togagae delivered a precise pass, and Weaver kicked a penalty to make the score 12-0.
Hull FC mounted a significant response in the second half. Following a grubber kick from Jakob Arthur that was collected by Joe Batchelor, Aidan Sezer added the conversion. Hull subsequently took the lead when Harvey Barron took a high ball to score, and Sezer sent Lewis Martin over in the corner.
The decisive moment arrived 12 minutes from time when Liam Hood burst over from dummy-half. Weaver’s subsequent kicking success ensured the Tigers held on for the win.
