Skinner, 18, has been a member of Bristol City’s academy since the age of six. Despite his long association with the Championship club, he has yet to make a first-team appearance for his parent side. The teenager arrives with experience from a series of recent loan spells, having played for National League side Eastleigh, as well as National League South clubs Bath City and Weston-super-Mare, last season.
Carlisle United manager Rob Elliot confirmed the acquisition was driven by immediate tactical requirements. Elliot stated that the signing was necessary to provide cover in attacking areas while Luke Armstrong remains unavailable.
Speaking to the club website, Elliot emphasised the strategic value of the acquisition beyond mere coverage. He noted that Skinner offers another option for the squad and adds competition for places within the attacking units.
