BYU freshman Legend Glasker secures first-team role ahead of 2026 season

BYU wide receiver Legend Glasker has solidified a position within the first-team offense during preseason training camp, positioning himself as a potential starter for the 2026 season. The freshman, who enrolled early from Lehi High, has moved up the depth chart following a strong showing in spring camp and continued performance in recent practices.
Receivers coach and passing game coordinator Fesi Sitake confirmed that Glasker has earned his spot alongside Oregon transfer Kyler Kasper and redshirt junior Jojo Phillips. Phillips, who has demonstrated flashes of brilliance over three seasons but has faced consistency challenges due to injury, now shares the first-team rep with the newcomer. Sitake noted that such a rapid rise for a freshman is uncommon, attributing Glasker’s success to his intelligence and ability to absorb the playbook.
Sitake emphasised that Glasker’s integration is rooted in more than just natural talent. The coach highlighted the recruit’s work ethic, noting that Glasker is often the last to leave practice and has been instrumental in organising summer workouts. “He’s not just a talented kid. He’s so much more,” Sitake said, praising the player’s humility and preparation habits.
The integration has been visible in team highlight reels produced by BYU’s social media department. Glasker has featured in multiple clips this month, including a sequence where he secured a catch against All-America cornerback Evan Johnson. He also made a deep reception from quarterback Bear Bachmeier during Monday’s practice, underscoring his readiness for game-speed action.
Glasker, a three-star recruit rated by 247Sports, attributed his progress to extensive film study and coaching support. He declined to label himself the unquestioned star of the camp’s first week, instead crediting the institutional support structure for his development. His family’s athletic lineage, including brothers Julius Glasker and Stephen Glasker, has also been noted by coaching staff as indicative of the athleticism present in his background.
The coincidence of Sitake’s son sharing the name Legend has drawn attention, with the coach’s son now preferring his middle name to distinguish himself from the rising football talent. Despite the unique circumstances, the focus within the program remains on Glasker’s capacity to contribute immediately to the Cougars’ offensive rotation.
