UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has raised the possibility of Britain rejoining the European Union, reopening debate over the country’s relationship with the bloc.
France 24 reported on Wednesday that Burnham had put rejoining “on the table”. The broadcaster characterised the remarks as breaking a taboo for a UK prime minister.
Catherine Barnard, professor of European law at the University of Cambridge, said Burnham was signalling that the UK was considering alternatives to being outside the EU.
