Breville has launched the Spiral Luxe Auto Pour Over, a $600 machine designed to grind beans and automate pour-over coffee brewing. Engadget reports it is available to buy from Breville and Williams-Sonoma; regional availability and stock levels were not specified.
The machine pairs a built-in grinder with a conical dripper and a water spout that moves in a spiral pattern. Automated pour-over machines have been available for years, but Breville’s model adds grinding as part of the process.
Users can adjust brewing settings including grind, brew ratio, water temperature and the time between pours. The controls also allow custom recipes to be saved, while a delayed start feature can schedule brewing for a set time.
Breville says its heating system reaches the required water temperature in seconds and maintains it during brewing. Those performance claims have not been independently assessed in the supplied reporting.
